Isn't one reason that they build houses in dangerous regions, demolished any vegetation that reduces the severity and build with inferior materials, which increase the danger of the storm effectivly?

Yes. When i think of houses that were destroyed in the us because of an storm, i think first on the typical florida houses, then to the newscenes from the disaster after katrina.


I don't think that's true unless you include the money they send to other countries that were destroyed (like small islands). Or maybe if you don't account for the per-capita rate...
