I was going to purchase a shipping container for my property in the US a few days ago, but the company I was talking with has raised their prices 70% over the quote I got 2-3 weeks prior.

Wouldn't there be an excess of containers?

No because containers are in high demand overall. While the US is importing less, stuff to the EU is taking the long way around Africa and that means more containers are needed.

>While the US is importing less, stuff to the EU is taking the long way around Africa and that means more containers are needed.

OK, then the unavailability of containers is actually due to piracy in the middle east.

The US importing less, by itself, decreases the demand for containers.

Both of those are factors. There are other factors neither one of us knows about (even if you are in ocean transport - your competitors are doing things they are hiding from you until they happen). How they balance out is not something I know, someone in the field likely has a reasonably good idea despite not knowing everything.

Right, there are a ton of factors. But it would be wrong to suggest that decreased US exports would push container prices up.

Containers are also manufactured… in China. Container, sea and others, are products in and of themselves so importing them for use even just to transport goods domestically will cost more.

Oh no, I’m in the same situation and was wondering how this would affect the quote.

I went for over a decade without any magazine subscriptions, then I kinda binged one night in 2021 and subscribed to a dozen or so that caught my interest. The majority I won't resubscribe to, but over the year or so I built up some good topical knowledge, and enjoyed checking out a lot of the small business/product ads.

I've ended up renewing: High Country News (monthly), Overland Journal (quarterly), and Backwoods Home (quarterly)

lots of reasons to pick Android, but as far as what makes the Pixel 6 special, it got a huge camera upgrade from previous generations, likely making it the very best in class again as far as photos and video go.

Dunno about Vancouver, but NIMBYs are a huge problem in Seattle. Jump into the comment section of any local neighborhood news blog post discussing development and you'll see what I mean.

Some carriers are better about this than others though. USPS/UPS/Fedex/DHL aren't perfect, but generally do an acceptable job. When I was living in Seattle it got to the point I would dread the OnTrac deliveries Amazon sent out because of all the issues I had with their drivers.

I believe the $99 kits were sold as a loss leader to grow their database and establish themselves as a leader in the space. The actual cost to the company was/is much higher.

Selling kits isn't how they make their money. So, selling the tests at a loss shouldn't be surprising.

30 minutes of Exercise + 10 minutes Meditation every morning did wonders for me. Finding the motivation to get started will be a constant struggle, but once you establish the habit for a few weeks it gets much easier. Start small if you have to, but do it every day -- building the habit is the key. If this doesn't work, or you can't muster the motivation to do it, then the meds are probably worth a try.

I dropped exercise for the past year, worst mistake I've made. Everything changed, my productivity, my happiness, my stress increased, etc. Now I'm forcefully pushing it back upon myself and as a result I feel better, I'm getting things done at an amplified level at work and at home. Once you get in that rhythm of having it you don't realize how important it really is.

Before going to work? what time does it make you wake up then? Well I'm not a morning person

Timing is much less important than the activities themselves, but I think mornings are most desirable because anything positive you accomplish in that period will build positive momentum for the rest of your day. Hal Elrod's book The Morning Miracle discusses this concept a bit more depth, if you're interested.

I do my exercise first thing in the morning. I wake up, hydrate, brush my teeth, put on workout clothes, and I try to be out the door by 6:30AM. I never thought I was a morning person either, but my body adapted pretty quickly.

When I registered to take a look I received my username + password by email in plain text. :(

That's a Wordpress plugin I have to make registration easier... Not secure enough?

Not secure at all.

Hmmm, would a better way to do frictionless registration be to sign them in, then send them an email with a link to set their password?

Any method that does not store passwords in plain text would be better.

I'm not sure what sort of modifications you have made to wordpress, but I can tell you that the default registration system hashes the passwords to store them securely. If you use that default system to generate the passwords, I would think that is safe.

$185,000 just to apply. If multiple parties applied, the gltd gets sent to auction.
