I have an idea in healthcare sector in India. For that i personally made a field study and went to 30 potential. I had made a decent presentation of the basic 3 features and went as a direct walk ins . Half of them were not only willing to use my "product" (which wasnt built yet) but also write a cheque for it. They were bargaining on price at that instant
This was 3 months back. I already run a growing fmcg business . It has drained me of time and resources. I cant find time to give it for this project. I am decent in marketing and especially cold calls and walk ins so i am confident to get things done. But existing commitments and ventures are making it hard for starting the project.
I run a small firm supplying air freshener services - dispenser along with monthly refilling.
Manufacturing and selling water based air fresheners, car air fresheners, scented wood balls for cupboard.
Recurring is growing fast. First is a service - I make around 3k USD in recurring revenue. Profit margins are good.
Another counter sales is also periodic not monthly though unevenly amongst clients however it has been launched two months ago and had 2k in first and 3.5K in second in revenue. Here too i manage good margins because i havent yet made into big retail. Its increasing rapidly and consuming resources and money.
Non recurring but periodic
Also sell air freshener products suitable for larger areas like custom diffusers etc revenue ranges anywhere from 0.5-2.5K USD each month.
I do but i am not so good as compared to others. Also i can understand the parts quickly but i dont know i am good enough to make it commercially. I am at beginner's level of ROR i had made a small data management system and hostd it on heroku for my company.
You don't need to be better than anyone, just good enough to get stuff done. If you want to go this route, just spend a few hours every day building on Rails knowledge -- there are junior positions in the US -- I have to believe there are some in India as well.
yes, you are correct. There is a bottleneck of how much i can grow hitting at individual clients as corporates. Also you are correct that i can add more products and supply those too in addition.
The market i am targeting is commercial and has a limit to how much i can grow and manage. But, I need volume to grow and probably move a brand to retail chain stores to actually be realise some good overall cumulative profits. Otherwise whatever i start, will be a small business and wont be able to become large over time. Even after this much time i still have no idea how to make this business grow to multi-city or state.
