User agent strings are all fake and should just be removed. Browsers modify them to game what servers send them, Microsoft had a great blog post about it when they released edge showing the difference in what it received based on user agent string changes.
Except we do know why because they have written blog posts about it. They would rather make 100 hybrids than 10 BEV's. They think it's better environmentally and they haven't said this part, but probably a lot more profitable as well.
Then where are their PHEVs? Their Prime vehicles have long waitlists and are produced in relatively small numbers. Either they can't make the margins with them or their access to battery supplies is very limited.
This gets stated a lot, but I don't think it's actually true and RH has stated they don't see an actual benefit from this. Plus, they already have that ecosystem that isn't just free-version of RHEL with CentOS Stream and Fedora.
Yea, we are going to destroy RHEL by doing what they want us to. RH wants more people using and building distros off of centos stream instead of using RHEL clones. I don't think they see this as a negative, especially since it devalues suse in the process because they are basically admitting RHEL is more desirable.
I always say the best way to solve Zero Tolerance policies is to threaten to replace the management with a minimum wage box-checker. If we aren't getting any discretion or thought why pay more for it? You would see quite the shift from acting like lazy ass-covering automatons.
You're understanding of what RHEL is seems to be off. Basically the current pipeline is Fedora->CentOS Stream->RHEL or CentOS Stream -> Fedora, RHEL. The downstream from redhat distros (centos, rocky, alma) were just recompiling the same packages as rhel and claiming 1:1 bug compatibility, which is a claim that might not even be true. They were able to do this because RHEL used to publish the packages that made up the distro to the public, but now they are only doing that for their customers. Everything that exists inside RHEL is available through centOS stream, the issue for the clones is that there also exists some changes that have not been added to RHEL yet.
Ultimately, the issue is RedHat thinks people should be using centOS stream if they don't need enterprise support and a significant part of the community just want RHEL but free.
There isn't really an equivalent of Tumbleweed in the RH ecosystem.
CentOS Stream maintains various API and ABI stability guarantees whereas openSUSE Tumbleweed just upgrades you to the latest version regardless, once it has been tested in Factory a bit.
And only one half of Leap is comparable to SLE (because it literally is SLE), the other half is rebuilt from Factory; it's like RHEL + everything that doesn't exist in RHEL from Fedora.
I think it's good that everybody is trying slightly different approaches, keeps things more interesting.
Stability-wise, it's more like this:
* openSUSE Factory is comparable to Fedora Rawhide (upstream "development" rolling release);
* openSUSE Tumbleweed is comparable to Fedora
* openSUSE Leap is comparable to CentOS Stream
* SLE is equivalent to RHEL (stable conventional point releases)
