That's a fascinating question - I'm aphantasic and mildly face blind (I thought the two female leads in Disclosure Day were the same person for most of the movie and that we were jumping back and forth in her timeline). I've always assumed I'm face blind because of the aphantasia, but I know several aphantasics who have no problem recognising faces.

In answer to the question though, no - even as someone with face blindness, the faces of people I've known and loved for a long time are burned in somewhere - I just can't access that part of my brain at will.

Most I think, especially among musicians, which makes the GP fascinating to me!

I can play the piano, saxaphone, and guitar, and I've never considered being able to think about music to be actually hearing it.

Aphantasic here - I constantly have music playing in my head to the point of it being slightly annoying. If I really concentrate, I can separate out the parts like stem separation, but generally it's a fairly high fidelity recreation of the most prominent parts. There was a brilliant thread on Mastodon a couple of years ago where people (mostly musicians) were describing their inner-music abilities - mine turned out to be very ordinary. The only time mine ever approach what many of the others described is when I'm very slightly stoned - then my brain starts to compose original music at extremely high fidelity in basically any genre. I just wish I could get it out of there.

> No whataboutisms

Couldn't even follow the ask in your first sentence.

That's only the last sentence, and I've deleted it for you. Why not engage with the thrust of the argument?

What about, how the ask is completely nonsensical and incoherent?

It also came with a request for no-downvotes... What's next? A request for only responses that agree with me?

Here's my request: Upvotes only. Please don't respond.

Whataboutism is what's known as a "fallacy" in debate. Wikipedia has a nice list here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies

Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it's "nonsensical and incoherent"

It wasn't my post, but I read it as "please don't downvote the answers"

> Overall, he just seems like a white supremacist atm.

Just.

You're not alone. I've been sat wondering what kind of codebase someone has if they have this problem, I've never seen this behaviour.

Side note: I can't be sure, but I may have actually been the person who coined "Dumb TV" 12 years ago [0] - I've been unable to find an earlier usage.

I have a 50" Philips screen with no smarts. It's great.

I don't understand why the best advice in this thread is getting downvoted. Even if you buy a smart TV and then disable the smarts, you're still teaching the TV companies that smart TVs sell.
