Excited for your launch! How do your coaches get parents to become motivated? Been a challenge for me to get them to exercise and eat better

Thanks! Great question. Our coaches are trained to help members develop habits (using a framework similar to Atomic Habits or The Power of Habit) -- to successfully create or replace a habit, you need a trigger, the routine (in our case, the workout or eating well), and a reward. At first, the coach's SMS prompts serve as the trigger, but over time we help members establish their own triggers in their environment (post it notes around the house, associating a workout with finishing a specific meal). Similarly, the coach is at first the reward (insight on your meals, shoutouts in your support group) but members learn to embrace other intrinsic rewards like the great feeling of accomplishment you have at the end of a well balanced day.

Atrium's head of growth here. We'll be posting lecture notes, transcripts, and media after the event. The mentorship and VC sessions are in-person only but we hope to share our learnings broadly to the startup community

Great!

Bayes Impact | San Francisco, CA | ONSITE | Full Time

Bayes Impact is a technology nonprofit that builds data-driven social services. Our services leverage software and data science to deliver personalized and scalable interventions for millions of underserved people across the world. We're funded by Y Combinator, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Since our launch in 2014, we’ve built the first state-level data collection system for police use of force in the United States, a nationwide digital platform for reducing unemployment in France, and predictive algorithms to improve community health for underserved patients. And we’re just getting started.

As a NGO, our belief is that new technologies can do more than generate profit. That’s why all of our work is open source and built for the global public good. Software and data science are incredible levers for change that can enable a few great people to make a huge positive social impact. Join our small but mighty team in building radically better social services for millions of people in need.

I'm Eric, one of the cofounders of Bayes Impact. We launched this initiative to address the dearth of police use of force data in the US - only 3% of 18,000 law enforcement in the country report any data about violent encounters between police officers and citizens. Let us know what you think. Also, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.
