how dare that commoner insult the Money

almost every year there is a news story of some Western tourist visiting another country dying from bootleg methanol alcohol

As I said, this happens when someone tries to sell illegally produced trash created not by brewing but with sugar, chemical essence, and whatever they've mistaken for ethanol. The tax on alcohol creates a black market and some people taking part in it are either dumb or lazy and those are the cases you hear about.

Raised and addressed in an earlier post on an earlier article on HN https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47736298#47737600

less than ideal if I had to be frank.

this has been happening on and off for ~10+ yrs. MS cost are too high and you need more expensive computers to have the MS sub-par experience.

the main thing that keeps people locked in is (a) "Im use to windows" and (b) MS gives them some special contract to keep them.

>And no, I do not accept the slippery slope fallacy.

I've never seen someone say "I'm stupid" out loud quite like this. Cheers.

>Systemd is just an init system

>Which also breaks your dns

>Which also asks for age verification

This conversation might not be for you bud.

This is not an acceptable comment on HN. It breaks several guidelines:

Be kind. Don't be snarky. Converse curiously; don't cross-examine. Edit out swipes.

Comments should get more thoughtful and substantive, not less, as a topic gets more divisive.

When disagreeing, please reply to the argument instead of calling names. "That is idiotic; 1 + 1 is 2, not 3" can be shortened to "1 + 1 is 2, not 3."

Please don't fulminate. Please don't sneer, including at the rest of the community.

Artix (Arch) and MX Linux (Debian) are very nice

Oh I only use distros that are declarative like NixOS.

I've run Arch in the past and I liked it just fine, but they are ultimately different than how I like running my computer.

I continue to find the non-stop claude spam fascinating. Gemini and ChatGPT have been very good for my needs, Claude not so much. Every week, if not every day, Claude spam is all over this site. But barely a peep about Gemini or ChatGPT coding capabilities.

That’s good to know your personal preferences. Please keep us posted!

I started with Claude for a basic JS project. It failed over and over. Gemini sorted out the same problems faster. Claude was always wanting to rip out huge blocks of code and replace them. Did it fix the problem? Almost never. It was a small JS code base Claude made itself.

Claude was my first coding AI, I liked it, I wanted to use it. But when I ran out of tokens I went to Gemini and got way better results.

And now every day I see Claude spam like it's the best thing that ever happened. Real world use tells a different story. I didnt just "one off" try it and have a problem. This is week and weeks of issues.

Claude fails basic questions when given very clear prompts - ON VANILLA JAVASCRIPT.

Tool de jour, similar to web framework of the month etc. Gemini and ChatGPT are just as useful

Thanks. I've used ChatGPT a million times and never had any input issues.

Half the people in IT have no business being here.

this is very naive. go compare the Olympic men 5k times to the womens 5k times.

i was a very below average cross country runner in high school, if not flat out poor. my times were still fast by female standards.
