As a full-time tech worker, time management is just as important with your off-hours projects as it is in your 9-5. You can only do so much (time is finite) so it's important to know when to drop a side project when the ROI isn't quite enough (in this case I'm talking about your wife).
Not being able to hack out a project for days straight is simply unhealthy.
Here's my advice: Divorce your wife, and to feel solid in your decision going forward, write "I divorced my wife for this" at the end of the Github README.md for each of your stupid bullshit projects.
I see where you are coming from with the snarky reply. That helped a bit actually because the other projects I have released have paid for our life together. I managed to do these a few years ago while she was traveling for work and I was caring for a relative. I need to use my time as productively as possible.
Lining the pockets of the investors that own my labor is a reward in and of itself.
E: Just thought of a cool startup idea. Every day you and your coworkers can calculate (it might take some guesstimating) the surplus value you create and try to beat each other on a leaderboard. I'm imagining a possible JIRA integration.
People already do this, they're those "awesome-react", "awesome-redux", etc GitHub repos with the giant readmes and peppered with emojis. IMO it's kinda mean to sarcastically name them like that.
Soundcloud was built as a SPA so you can keep your music playing as you navigate.
I wish MyFitnessPal was a SPA in places so I could click checkboxes and paginate the food catalogue at the same time when adding food to my diary.
Nearly everywhere else, IMO, no. SPAs are absolutely harder to build and people start with them by default because everyone wants to be Facebook, which your average CRUD site is not. You can pull in those fancy javascript features as you need them, and hell, even embed React in the one part of your site that truly needs it. Which is what React begs people to do on their website, but apparently people read that and say to themselves "That message is probably for the plebeians building a Todo list app or something. I'M building Todo++ Enhanced, so I'll probably need 40 layers of abstraction and about a gig of dependences to implement a form."
Hands down, I've never heard anyone do ads better than Cum Town[0] (seriously). Sometimes the reads end up being upwards of 15 min & in the middle of the show but nobody skips them. In fact in live shows the crowd will cheer when an ad read starts.
The trick is they have extremely tolerant advertisers who don't mind being basically slandered every ad read, having the promo codes and discounts read wrong, having the "don't read this part out loud" parts read on accident, etc.
Close 2nd is Hollywood Handbook, who also shits on advertisers and leads to their ad reads being the most listened to clips of the show. For example when Cards Against Humanity told them to say whatever they want [1].
Yep; the better podcasts pull in the advertiser into their unique style. Comedy podcasts are probably the best example of this. My Brother, My Brother, and Me will write a funny song about each advertiser, or involve them in "advice" bits somehow. They had a recurring segment with an online adult toy store that involved them reading lists of what people who had clicked through to their landing page had bought.
Then again, I've never bought anything that I've heard about on a podcast, so I have to admit I remain pretty skeptical of its paying off.

It's not always that, it's sometimes brand awareness.
Also, I just bought an Indochino suit primarily because I've heard the goddamned ads 100 times by now. And I'm pretty pleased with the product, honestly.
They think you can take Capital and search/replace 'money' for 'privilege points' and it's what the left believes now. I'm paraphrasing but I see this point made over and over again. James Damore did it in his Google Memo...
e: Oh shit I just realized who I'm replying to. Serious answer time. Socialism will be a disruptive new paradigm for start-ups and other businesses where (following the idea of a meritocracy) workers, and not stuffy old capitalists, each own an equal number of shares at their place of work. And even more innovative in structure than Zappos and Valve, it allows for capital investment decisions to be voted on by individual contributors, throwing away traditional management structures you see at crufty old firms. Pretty cool stuff! According to some dusty old theories it's the "Exit Strategy" for our largest firms.
Who's dang and why are you self-censoring? Are you afraid of getting banned from HN? I don't think the site can remove your comments. If you are banned, I'd take it as a badge of honor.
