By extension, 90% of the internet is crud - this article wasn't. Thanks Reg.

No. The Internet's six sigma compliant. 99.99966% of everything is crud.

Install plugin, "Cloud to Butt Plus" -> "Butt to Butt Plus" ^_^

back and forth, forever

DocHub already exists that does the same thing but with more docs.

For me, DevDocs is nicer at the moment:

- It's faster

- I don't have to select a programming language before I can start searching

- It handles keyboard input a lot better. As soon as the page loads, I can start typing, move down with the arrow keys and activate a selection with the enter key.

Sure but it seems far less content. Maybe speed will suffer as content increases. Sites like this, IMHO, are about content, not speed.

Never underestimate the importance of responsiveness in user interfaces, especially when those interfaces are used look something up.

I'm sorry, but are you fucking kidding me?

This is such a shame. Companies that shut down projects like this are completely ignorant as to the benefits of open-sourcing such a useful tool.

but I bet that their business heavily relies on other open-source projects. uncool.

For an article that prefaces it's dialogue with a desire to "leave the right-thinking reader with an impression of calm, reasoned rationality", it reads like opinionated tosh. How the author arrived at these six criteria as a reasonable litmus test for the applicability and usefulness of a text editor absolutely boggles the mind.

Verity is usually satirical; at best he's overblown and ridiculous. I don't think the Reg's editorial staff expects you to take this as gospel, it's mostly for entertainment value.

> right-thinking reader

This should have been your cue; "right-thinking" as a term is right up there with "modest proposal."

Probably by starting with the idea of writing an article gushing about sublime and working backwards in an attempt to not appear biased :p
