What was the deal with .org?

EDIT: seems like Ethos Capital private equity firm wanted the .org registry, and Xavier Becerra (Attorney General of California at the time) wrote a letter that played major role in transaction being rejected

Same can be said about loopback device in general. Why do you need to use networking when you are literally on the same device and can use binder/dbus and friends with native apps?

Shizuku uses Binder AFAICS[^1]. Looking deeper it seems that Shizuku does not connect to the device itself per se, but rather it has a privileged server launched manually through adb. Never used Shizuku, so can't say for sure.

Shizuku essentially implements an API that your OS creator should have implemented via using adb access to have more privileges than a regular app could have access to. If your OS creator implemented these APIs they could properly implement them without this hack or requiring adb to be used.


Arguably PCIe lanes the thunderbolt exposes are a differentiating factor, not the maxed-out specs that "plain" usb-c cables can have. Although to be fair, I've never used the PCIe lanes on thunderbolt ports.

Sorry for the confusion. Though, it is a mango tree in a mango garden! The continued development and maintenance of plotnine is supported by Posit, PBC, the same company behind the Tidyverse.

Can you add CopperheadOS data 2014-2018 and AndroidHardening Project from 2018-2019?


The repo got archived in march, I wonder whether it means that Apple uses something other than CUPS on their devices? Quick search suggests they still use CUPS, but why would they archive the project then?

The archiving of the repo seems to imply they fully moved to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Printing_Protocol / https://www.pwg.org/ipp/everywhere.html in their next OS release (might be based on CUPS, but also could be a clean sheet implementation)


That's what I wondered as well, whether it is a new implementation, or perhaps they still use their version of cups? Or maybe they use the forked openprinting cups? Would be nice if somebody knowledgeable with a mac device told whether the cups is still used



On nixos they're not, there's a single executable in /bin -- /bin/sh, and a single executable in /usr/bin -- /usr/bin/env
