Using FOSS solutions and setting redundancy is not going to work for average users.

I think you’re missing the point here, which is we need regulations to protect consumers against big tech.

Sure, but until then FOSS solutions are the way to go.

Of course this is not for average people, but neither is making backups.

Regulations that will do what? I think the parent is correct to call out the entrenchment of first-party services as an issue.

> Well, your opinion is literally illegal.

That's the whole point.. parent is arguing that it should not be illegal.

Without enough children, who will be taking care of you when you are older?

All of society and industrial functions require young people.

Genuinely asking, are there any country that doesn't have a housing crisis right now? From my understanding, it's everywhere in Western nations

Is housing really unaffordable in US? How many years average Joe needs to work to buy a 1bd apartment in the big city, let's say 500sq ft? Price in annual net salary is much lower in USA than in big EU cities.

At least for my state in germany we have an crisis of housing in big cities. In small vilages and cities it is pretty cheap to buy a house.

Evangelical's obsession with Israel is pretty weird (even to other Christians)..

They happily ignore Revelation 14:6? Hebrews 8:13 & 8:9? Galatians 3:28? Mark 16:1

Additionally, Christ commands Christians to preach the gospel to every nation and the scripture not say there is neither gentile or Jews.

Evangelicals will fixate on a verse from Genesis about God blessing people who bless Israel, but ignore the fact that when the country literally didn’t exist as a political entity.

I could go on and on..

Source: I'm a Christian but not an Evangelical.

> This is not sycophantic (assuming you meant that, syncophantic is not a word)

Am I the only one who feels like this kind of tone is off-putting on HN? OP made a small typo or English may not be their first language.

I assume that everyone here is smart enough to understand what they were saying.

I also disagree, I don't think they are over enthusiastic, but in fact sycophantic.

If they buy out all the supply, there will always be a shortage.

So build so much they cannot rent all of it. Over supply will eventually drive down prices.

who is going to do the building? Because PE is the one doing that too.

No, private equity appears to be a minority of home builders: https://www.builderonline.com/builder-100/builder-100-list/2...

How exactly an AI that can't get the basic facts about the current year and next year right is deemed to be the "new industrial revolution" ?

Do the user of _any_ language care how serious the language is?.. nowdays there are so many options to pick from, I love Ruby, I use it all the time, but I also like Python, Elixir and system languages like C++..

no they don't thats my point ;) use what works for you, everything else is just noise.

The point of breaking down the long function in God Classes , is to prepare the code for a second refactoring, which is usually extract class, long params list, etc..

If you were to simply leave it a mess like that, you would be right.
