Stack is great until it's not. Don't let it be your only card. I was in Taiwan and couldn't load the card as they were having trouble with their Interac processor. Luckily I have a UK Monzo card that kind of saved the day for ATM transfers. My Canadian bank charge a stupid amount on ATM withdrawals.
I use Home Trust like the other poster, but Rogers is also an alternative if you can deal with their weird forex structure and the general unpleasantness of dealing with Rogers. (2.5% forex fee and then 4% cashback on forex transactions, so you still get hosed on forex if you ever get refunds on the card)
Home Trust has a few annoyances too, most notably a 10-transaction per day limit that you can run into when travelling.
Otherwise Scotiabank Gold Amex recently dropped their forex fee and might work for you depending on spending habits.
Also you can get a couple of hundred bucks of credit from multiple providers. It was enough for me to learn and move on to getting my own gpu.
Often understated is how difficult it is to set up your local gpu for machine learning. Still haven't figured out how to connect my 8 gpus in a functional way.
Honestly at this point take the advanced algorithm classes from Stanford on YouTube and read very very good code and try to write and work. Contribute to open source projects too.
You do realize there are 6 foot NBA players right. Hardly 100000 in the world. So if you're gonna go to the power ball extreme on one end then you must extend the analogy just as far on the other side of the argument.
Most billionaires were born in top 0.01 percentile of their respective population pool. And had to be lucky and smart amongst other traits.
When I looked into it there were a couple of issues:
Visas they will be different for wach person but for most people but if you're not under 30 and not from a western country it is a hassle
Jobs : a lot of jobs require German and the ones that don't you'd face more fierce competition which drives down the wages considerably.
Wages: on average is lower by 20-30 percent than Toronto, 50-60 percent than sf again taking these numbers out of my ass but you get the gist. Higher end more senior jobs pay even less.
Benefits and holidays: significantly better than NA you get like 30 holidays in Bavaria last time I checked
Overall if you don't have a big friend group/ family it's worth the move in my opinion the lifestyle is much more sustainable.
Since you mentioned Toronto, how easy is to get a job in Toronto if you don't have a work Visa or PR, is not from North America and have like 1 year of work experience?
