Indeed, and while I think their specific proposal is quite unlikely to end up in the language proper (it's a lot of machinery for a very specific purpose, and still isn't quite "safe" by Rust's definition), it's great food for thought for future enhancements to the language (such as making size_of a const function so that it can be evaluated at compile time).
