I'm interested in this period, and have always tried to read about it -- but I've had a hard time finding a book that really holds my attention throughout. And this book did just that. I highly recommend it for anyone even slightly interested in Roman history.

I too enjoyed that book tremendously. If you haven't read it yet, you should definitely read The Twelve Caesars.
