Is it possible that high precision/performance analog devices might perform some graphics tasks (e.g. ray tracing) faster than digital computers?


Sure -- if you cast light at physical objects, and then collect the reflected light with photo-sensitive component, you can perform real-time ray-tracing with arbitrarily good accuracy.


Well, sure. An analog ray tracer is called a camera. Scene setup can take a while, though.
