Yes, the lack of ethics review boards for research on FB users is reprehensible. Hardly any of the internal research would be approved by ethics boards for publically funded research on human subjects. Many people who use FB have no idea what freedoms they are giving up, how their information is being (mis)used, or how they are being manipulated.
