I liked and used sharelatex initially, but my thesis was eventually moved to overleaf because overleaf has support for git repo (inside the share button), which is easier to manage for the research group.


ShareLaTeX has support for "synchronising" to GitHub, though I'm not sure how that works. It's part of their paid subscription.

One other benefit of ShareLaTeX is that they are completely free [as in freedom] software (under the AGPL).


The sync to GitHub is not part of the AGPL source. (Giant kudos still for most of it being FOSS)
