Why is an extensible ISA a requirement for a controller chip?


Nvidia loves to build its own proprietary extensions, which I imagine are on the roadmap for that controller chip.


Particularly they used Falcon cores for hardware video codecs, which lends itself to custom instructions if you're counting gates.
