Maybe I lack imagination, but , smart home assistants to do what? I dont want an Alexa on steroids at home. The intersection of GPT-3-like-based devices that can be:1)really useful. 2)Easy to interact with.3)Respect my privacy, is empty and I suspect it would be for a long time.I need help at home with chores: prepare lunch, clean the house, do the dishes, do the laundry, paint a room, etc, no GPT-5 will be useful for that.
I dont want to pay (neither in money nor with my privacy) just to talk to a device to make trivial or contrived things.
A case of GPT-3-like agent as a virtual assistant for your personal/home online work is more plausible, but I think it is still more than 2 orders of magnitudes away.
