Certainly it's more preferable to learn of these flaws or to be reminded of them in order to recognize them more readily, than to not concern oneself with this matter at all. Of course I think the optimal path is that which has one actively practice the recognition of these flaws in order to make spotting them a quicker and easier task with time. The ultimate outcome is that it becomes an effortless background process.
