In grad school, I worked in quantum chemistry and stayed up-to-date with the latest research going on. I also closely followed the related field of quantum computing — not at an expert level, but enough to know what was going on. After grad school, I switched to industry and have not kept up with either field, but over the past five years, it looks like a lot of really interesting developments have been happening.
Would anyone who works in QC mind giving me a brief summary of the major developments in the last half decade? If you have any links with more details, that would be welcome too!
(Also interested in knowing about any breakthroughs in quantum chemistry; did neural networks ever actually end up working for DFT or QMC?)
