Only partially true. Bullies esp. thrive in the creative industry (theatre, music, film, arts, ...), but not so in the knowledge industry.
I've only saw bullies and sociopaths in IT in the US, not in Europe, but I'm sure it depends on the company size also.
Or if you are in the biggest city, but not the 2nd or 3rd biggest city or the country-side.
I'd expect bullies in pathological cultures, where cut throat competitiveness is needed to drive customer value.
I'd expect less bullies in a generative culture. Where customer value depends on creativity.
