Being stoic is overrated. Much prefer when we actually talk about ideas and don't just sit there mysteriously.


The article concerns philosophers who loved talking about ideas, not the colloquial usage of the word stoic.


That's not what stoicism is at all.


Be sure to use capital S when talking about the philosophy. The dictionary definition and the philosophy seem to be not actually related, inversely related in many places in fact


That speaks volumes about the people who write the dictionaries.


All of the major dictionaries are descriptivist. They describe how people are using words, they do not try to control how words are used.
