I've been wondering about this for a while. As a pilot myself, I often wish for higher fidelity information about the winds aloft. But once I'm flying, I have essentially perfect information about the relative wind everywhere I go.
It's the aggregation that seems to be missing - current governmental winds aloft products update only a few times a day and frequently don't seem to be very accurate.
It would be very cool if we could build something approaching a real-time, general purpose tool with this approach. I imagine the data density is one of the bigger challenges.
