I have nothing of value to add, but I'm confused as to why HN didn't find this more interesting.


Maybe posted at a wrong time? Or is it because there was so much fusion articles lately, that only few users read this one?

Optimistic articles announcing "breakthroughs" in nuclear fusion tech are a bit like the boy who cried wolf. [0]

This isn't an optimistic article, it's a landmark scientific result that people all over the world have been trying to achieve for 70 years.


I'm not downplaying the significance of events described by the article, just trying to portray how it might be perceived by a skeptic who's seen misleading headlines announcing "revolutionary breakthroughs" in nuclear fusion tech for years. Hence, the allusion to "The Boy who Cried Wolf."


Because we don’t understand the topic enough to know if this is big news or premature excitement.
