Ask HN: Best resources to learn chess for beginners?
2 points by labarilem on Jan 31, 2023 | hide | past | favorite | 6 comments
I've picked up chess again and now I'm 1300 on lichess. What books/courses would you recommend to improve at my skill level?

I would recommend Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess. A real mind blower, especially when it comes to puzzles. I am close to that rating also so we could play sometime.

Looks promising. Sure, let's play sometime. I'm sstoic on lichess.

YouTube personalities analyzing chess games is a low key way to get better.

Any recommendations?

Daniel Rensch is my favorite, he analyzed AlphaZero games. Chess Giant is good for openings. There's a lot of good options. Learn the pirc defense for when you play black.
