If you're doing something that you absolutely love doing and are completely aligned with the overall goals of the thing you're engaged in, well, count yourself as extremely lucky. Maybe game designers, research project workers, etc. fall into this category, and they naturally adopt this kind of approach to work, because making progess towards the goal is just win, win, win on every front.
