Echo (and others) was actually successful back in the days, just not in the way Amazon envisioned. Commercially it didn't make sense for Amazon (I guess most ppl don't want to buy stuff over a speaker) but it can still be a great entry point for many other things, given the new AI progress.

Agreed - my life was so hard before Alexa. I had to press a button to start a robot. Then my friend told me about Alexa. At first I thought she was joking, but then I saw it with my own eyes at her house. I couldn't believe what I had witnessed. Right there I told Alexa to buy me an Alexa. It got delivered the very next day. Life is so easy now - all I have to do is yell at Alexa and the robot starts cleaning.
