I feel heard (although they wrote this years before I started getting annoyed by the word). The frequency at which I see people writing about "consuming content" is astonishing.


Dang I’m glad I’m not the only one also.

I think what’s perverse about it is that it implies some amorphous thing that you just passively take in to kill time, waste life, distract yourself from x. Like a bland wet fast food hamburger.

I can understand it. Sometimes that’s all you can handle. But being so blasé about eating it / giddy about producing it and getting money from it makes me physically cringe.


Heard someone say 'consuming radio'. As in, listening to it. I hate humanity sometimes.


My old coworker would say "consuming anime". Drove me nuts.


For some reason, I always picture Coneheads: "CONSUME MASS QUANTITIES". A ridiculously silly sketch, but even my pre-teen self caught the satire.
