What is the evidence Democrats lost tech? Do we have polling or broader donor figures?
From what I can tell, Biden "lost" a handful of already Republican-leaning VCs and executives. (Mostly ones who hold crypto.) Which is wild if you listen to what Vance purports to believe and then realise a man of Trump's age is rolling a 20-sided dice every year [1].
Did the Democrats ever "have" tech, whatever that means? The prototypical tech geek tends to be a libertarian - "techno-libertarianism" was really used to describe the early Silicon Valley "hack-it-yourself" Jobs-Woz philosophy. And while some social values held by libertarians tend to align with what Democrats believe in as well, they very much differ in their fiscal views, and always have.
Seems like OP is talking about the political views of tech oligarchs, not the rank and file in tech. Either way, it's a transparently delusional justification for tech moguls putting profits over people, then hypocritically pretending it's a noble pursuit of innovation. Choosing to back Trump reveals their willingness to ignore his harmful policies and unethical and illegal behavior as long as it suits their bottom line. Surprising no one.
