We've got spending caps and short limits on election campaign length to avoid exactly the kind of insanity that is the American election cycle. I'm not sure it works 100%, but it does seem a little more sane.
Works where i am in the EU. Our national elections (I'm not a national, so I can't vote.. I just watch from the sidelines) had about 5% of the 'noise' of any US elections.
For which i am eternally grateful.
Fair play to the DNC, though. Their convention this year was very interesting.
But - where are we at? Eighty days to suffer until the US elections?
IMHO, it's way too much.
