You are right that there are terrible issues in building (Grenfell being an obvious, terrible example).
But I'd say, in general, building is in a much better state. There are fairly standard rules, which are mostly followed, and most building stay standing, year after year, without the need for constant maintence. On the other hand, software is still really pre-fire of london (at best) in terms of quality and standards.
