Show HN: I made a website to track my subscriptions (vexly.app)

I think onboarding subscriptions could be a bit better.

Reading bank statement CSVs (and yes, there will be some customers who won't do that and its fine AND you will have to be more security conscious about how that works, dont store it etc) is likely going to see more onboarding success.

I really think the friction to solve here is onboarding, make that smooth and you will get better conversion.

You could of course go down the path of direct bank connection via aggregators but i'd leave that until PMF is found. I do think this will be your main friction point.

I REALLY like the design however, great job.

I'm glad you liked it! I'm not very confident in web design, so your feedback really motivates me.

Thank you a lot for your feedback!

I built Vexly after discovering I was wasting $200/month on forgotten subscriptions. That free trial from 2023? Still charging me. The gym I haven't visited since January? Yep, that too.

What makes Vexly different:

You get alerts 7 days before renewals so you can actually cancel in time. No bank connections needed, just pure privacy-first tracking.

Most people find 3-5 forgotten subscriptions in their first minute using Vexly. Our beta testers saved an average of $540 in year one.

Email login seems to be broken on iOS?

Hi. I just paid for the lifetime access. I can’t login. I put in my email, click the magic link I get, and I just get the same unlogged-in vexly page. I’ve turned off adblockers thinking that may be blocking a cookie or something. No deal. I’d rather not have to log in with Google (and tbh I’d also rather not had to log in with a magic link every single time I want to use this).

EDIT: safari on ios

Hey, I added password-based login, you can sign up with the existing email to set the password, or you can do it by going to settings -> security and set the password there.

Also, you can link your Google account by logging with Google with the same email and it would automatically link that.

Hey, sorry for the late response, do you happen to use Discord? If yes, we can discuss easier.

Yes. Same as HN username.

I sent you friend request!

Just tried on Firefox on Linux with uBlock origin enabled and it seems to be working.

Paid for lifetime 10 minutes ago, not sure I'm happy.

Imho it needs to be MUCH simpler.

I don't have many subscriptions, certainly less than 10.

I don't want a weekly reminder.

All I want is a way to tell Vexly, for every subscription for which I want a reminder, that you need to send me a reminder on "day X" that I choose manually.

Could you please add something like this? Thanks.

Hey, I added what you requested. You can turn off the daily/weekly reminders by going to settings -> Notification Preferences -> Set Notification Style to off. Then, you can set the reminder time when adding new subscription, or edit reminder time of existing subscriptions

Excellent, thanks!

Will do! So, basically, you want to disable the regular reminder of Vexly and instead choose the date it reminds you?

Yes, please!

The world is a complicated place: for example, for some subscriptions, I need to unsubscribe at least 30 days in advance.

For some I get billed every month but I bought a yearly pass, and I need to unsubscribe before the year is over (or, again, 30 days before the year is over).

Other things, such as domains, maybe don't auto-renew, but I better remember to renew them, etc.

It's a lot easier for me to figure out how the rules work case by case and just let you do the task of sending me 1 or 2 emails as a reminder on the dates I choose. Thank you!

Sounds good! I will add it and let you know. It would be more convenient if you have a Discord account and join our server. :D (not required, though)

Not a fan of Discord. Thanks in advance if you can update me here!

will do!

Hi, the website is well-designed. What makes it different/special from other existing ones?

I’d say what makes it special is its simplicity, you don’t need to link your email or bank account. I put privacy above everything. Most apps I’ve found require connecting to a bank account or Gmail, which isn’t great for privacy. Instead, my website offers an AI Agent that can help you enter your subscriptions if you don’t want to do it manually

Can you please fix the email login on iOS? The Google login works but not the email one.

Hey, I will try to fix it + adding email password. Sorry for the bug!

Make it free. Sell the aggregate data. People can advertise cheaper alternatives too.

Good idea with the reminder for day X.

I added it!
