No we didnt lose communication to entertainment. You still have communication protocols like email and xmpp. Fediverse is a communication protocol and some of that communication is entertainment. We need to seperate social media and fediverse because the philosophy is completely different. Fediverse has you make an account and you get posts from users you follow. The reason you need multiple accounts is because the sites are not complete enough to handle all of the different styles of posts. There is still a social and communication aspect to it.

Big tech social media is pushing you a stream of entertainment and pushing away from social interactions.
