So who gets to decide who gets in the class seems ripe for discrimination against minorities and females.

It's mechanistic ranking on your high school GPA. No aptitude test, no essays, no interview. Just a flat ranking on a single number.

But at least our system isn't "bizarre", so we can always feel good about that.
