I'm not associated with Coinbase so my knowledge extends to that same article you linked. You appear to be correct so far as the text of the article goes.
In the future I imagine crypto wealth will be secured by breaking it into multiple wallets stored in vaults controlled by different organizations. That protects you from total asset loss due to institutional failure. And this type of failure isn't limited to crypto (see Bernie Madoff's hedgefund).
ugh. even their 10 digit code they provide to unfreeze someone isn't very secure. It's simply todays date plus a 4 digit pin that moves up in the order that someone signs up. For example: 090817xxx1, 090817xxx2. So my wife and I are simply two numbers apart.
Jesus. I think you can provide your own. But yeah, when the user-facing bits are this bad, you know it's nothing but garbage below. I can't believe these companies have so much power.
I can't even imagine how something like that can be implemented. Even if you put the most junior developer on this, something so serious should have been reviewed by someone. At least do a quick search on stack overflow or something.
What about an Indian dating site or app? I met my now wife through okcupid a few years ago and we couldn't be a better match. My dating life before okcupid was non existent. I also had a hard time online and took a lot of work but I don't think I would have went on as many dates with people that matched the attributes I was looking for without using a website that filtered out a lot of that. You can easily exclude the drinkers, smokers, etc. There will be disappointments but it's a numbers game and you'll find someone if you keep at it. There's a lid for every pot as they say.
If that doesn't work maybe ask your parents to do a traditional Indian wedding where they do match you with someone. But I'd go the online route first if your family isn't traditional.
That was my first thought. This feels off, I doubt Coinbase database was hacked and this is just using their API flaw and some previously leaked email database.
