Firefox is looking more appealing now.

I've been using Firefox mainly, for A few years, since Google started earnestly talking about removing support for manifest V3.

I only use Chrome for compatibility reasons. Than I switch back over to Firefox.

Challenges are separating myself from the synchronized data universe that is the Google ecosystem. Passwords etc.

Definitely possible. Definitely worthwhile to retain control over my time.

Firefox is a attempt to placate the original citizens of the web whos tools subvert the add surveillance industry .Google is clever enough to know how full blown antagonism to developers ends up. Oh and monopoly laws.

Issue with firefox : zero support for WebUSB!

It was always the correct option, it's a shame it's taken people like yourself so long to get the memo.

It's a shame Firefox sold it's homepage to promote a shitty race-dividing movie, claim social activism, and has forever lost its reputation.

We don't trust google, but it never lied. Firefox lied.

> it never lied

It's motto was literally "don't be evil". It takes a significant mental leap to take your conclusion from it's behaviour.

  >significant mental leap
not too significant, if you believe evil doesn't exist, especially to a new-corp-state-actor as big as fkn giigles

If I cared that much about every online drama I wouldn't be able to use any technology or web service without going insane.

I'm against monopolies & ads and I don't need to watch every movie, so that's an easy choice.

I'm against all those things as well - the only notable difference being that security lapses in the name of "social activism", in a leading browser than millions depend on for more than they should, is simply not permissible to me and many others.

The also impossible delineation between "socially activist ad" and "politically convenient" one make it a tainted resource, both security-wise, and bias-wise.

It is a organization, with no integrity; merely another institutional-preserving husk

What lie did Firefox do? Nothing listed in the examples sounds like a lie

This is good given people sometimes glaze over and just opt-in.

Contact sharing is dangerous since you can easily reconstruct any individuals social graph (esp big tech), and are unintentionally giving access of your contacts to others.

So Vercel but for Firebase

He'll most likely re-hire the core engineers (maybe 1 per team) at higher salaries to maintain context. That's what he did at X

I wonder if someone on their team angered Elon, or if it’s just related to a new strategy.

Elon will properly rehire those he needs from the team via extra compensation as needed.

Tesla's charging standard is now the standard that everyone's going to use. There are other companies building out chargers. Demand for EV's in general seems to be dropping, so Tesla's EV's will be the biggest beneficiaries of new EV chargers built by everyone else.

Given all of that, Tesla no longer needs to be in the supercharger game.

> Tesla's charging standard is now the standard that everyone's going to use.

No, Tesla's charging standard is dead.

Everyone in North America is going to use CCS with Tesla's plug. The plug is now standardized as SAE J3400. It's CCS type 3.

Older Teslas will need a retrofit to be able to talk CCS.

This would be foolish to rely on. If you throw an entire division in the trash, some of your critical employees won’t return at (almost) any price.

Yep, maybe 10-15 will need to be rehired at double salary. It should be an incredibly formalized process in terms of building new superchargers. Maintaining old superchargers likely requires only 4-5 managers and 40-50 technicians globally, although they might be contractors. Building out a new supercharger is likely incredibly formalized, with permiting, design, architecture, and electrical work all done via thrid parties. No need to have 500 people around.

That may all be true, if you want to throw away the quality reputation that the superchargers built up and let the chargers and related travel experience sink as low as it is for the alternatives today.

I was seriously contemplating a Tesla when my current cars need to be replaced. The crazy stories I have been reading over the last few years really concern me. For an expensive purchase like a car, I want the most "boring" and reliable thing. The whole .. lets delete parts and add them back in .. seems crazy for a car (or rocket!!) company to do.

“New strategy” ..how long ago was this strategy hatched?

I can imagine someone being in a rush and forgetting to put on Car Wash mode. 100k down is a rough way to go.

Seems like detecting "hey, I'm in a car wash..." would be substantially easier for AI than full self-driving.

It is! It always was! But how does the AI decide when to launch the car wash detector app?

I feel Apple is on panic mode trying to find a way to avoid opening up.

They will most likely lose.

“I don’t have data to back it up, but I know it’s better”

Glad Bret Taylor was added to the board.
