What if we allowed controlled coins (no mining just simple database). Skip the Crypto and use transparent well vetted technology to keep the transactions. Don't pretend to offer anonymity. Don't inflate the supply. Publish the transactions publicly.

I think people tried this and called it Liberty Reserve and went to prison for 20 years.


From what I can tell they were laundering money, something harder to do with public transactions.

Operating a financial institution with permits, and identification of participants might not draw the ire of the US government.

With the transparency and lack of anonymity I would imagine the usefulness to criminals would be minimal.
